The Interview with Mark on Digital Marketing
Mark, please tell us a bit more about you:) Did you dream about something as a boy and what are you currently doing?
I am 27, I believe in altruism very heavily, and I’ve been very lucky with all of my interactions over the years. I dreamt of playing football professionally and played in Europe in my youth but unfortunately had some huge family issues and never got to move to Europe to continue that dream. Now I work for an amazing Performance Media Buying Agency with my best friends. I love it.
What is the hardest part in Digital Marketing for you right now?
The hardest aspect is adjusting to high-level media buying changes throughout Facebook’s growth and bringing on new clients with completely different niches and audiences.
Please share some of the tools that you use in digital marketing that will make you very disappointed if you cannot use them anymore? Why?
I use Unicorn Ads pretty frequently, but other things are mainly courses, and books, and really, most of that knowledge is accessible through connections with others in my network.
Specific Questions on FB ads
What metrics do you follow in your campaigns?
Our main KPI for all clients is always Profit above all else. Depending on the campaign structure it could be numerous other things. I can give you a screenshot of my ads manager layout in the future if that’s helpful.
Images, GIFs, videos which are better for FB ad creatives?
Based on the data, videos and statics are performing best for us. But the point here is to test test test!
How do you approach the content creation in an ad?
I have a very long and thorough process on this built out in Wiz Of Ecom’s Utopia. I would strongly suggest you check out the community. Start with PAALS -> Product Audience, Ad/Angle, Landing Page, Strategy.
What are your top tips to the people that rely heavily on FB ads to bring traffic to their store?
Test more creatives. Create at least 10 new creatives a week. Use RSL (Review, Short, Long) in your copy. Do audience research. BE OBJECTIVE, always go based off of the data. Emotions don’t sell.
Can you suggest something for a higher “Total Value” for FB ads?
Make sure you have a great offer, with a high AOV, and a USP (unique selling proposition) that actually targets a market’s pain points, and alleviates that pain. Just do more creatives overall, angle creation and testing.
Moreover, what do you think is the future of digital marketing?
I see the majority of businesses moving into Ecom in the next decade, with that being said, everyone should be carving out their specialty starting today. Become a media buyer, become a DR copywriter, learn Email, learn as much as you possibly can in this space.
If you have to start a new business now, what will it be?
Hemp Clothing Brand, just personally.
What is the thing you are most proud of?
My tenacious and unrelenting willpower to push and strive to become successful in this life.
Finally, please share something random that you want to share with us:)
Chewing on gum while cutting onions can help keep you from crying:))
